Small Office/Home Business Case Studies
Small Professional Services Firm
A 25 person consulting firm was spending nearly $100,000 per year on IT services and support of PCs, email and other common applications. In addition, they purchased half a dozen new Smartphones which were not working with their email system.
ctrlcenter provided a remote management solution ("PC Guardian Premium") for the firms 25 desk/laptops that included on-going, always on service so that firm staff did not have to worry about warnings, updates, installing security patches, intruders or losing critical files. Basically, ctrlcenter is doing everything needed to protect the PC and keep it running when it is needed.
ctrlcenter also provided 6 "Connected on the Go" packages for the executive team, seamlessly integrating their shiny, new Treo Smartphones with their office email, contact list and calendar. By also moving their email software to an off-site, hosted provider, ctrlcenter was able to reduce hardware and maintenance costs of their basic software applications.
As a result, the ctrlcenter solution was able to save the firm nearly 70% on their IT services expense, with a higher level of service. The Firm’s CEO claims "ctrlcenter brings technology solutions to a new level of efficiency and service. If you are a small business owner who has in-house IT staff or if you are paying $100's/hr for marginal help, you need to check them out."
Chiropractor's Office
A small business had a problem running a mission critical MS DOS application on a recently purchased PC. Initial inspection by a ctrlcenter Technical Advisor revealed over a dozen viruses and other "bad" programs that were affecting the performance of the PC.
ctrlcenter conducted a "PC Restoration" remotely (through the Internet) on the office computer to clean out viruses, update the system's anti-virus program, install anti-spyware software and check over a dozen other potential trouble spots to make sure the system was safe and secure. Due to the critical nature of the office PC, the client upgraded the purchase to a "PC Guardian" subscription so that ctrlcenter can continually and automatically update and secure the critical office systems.
As a result, the chiropractor’s office was back up and running within a matter of minutes versus days of waiting for an on-site support technician to be scheduled. The office technology was now "worry free" so that practitioners can refocus on their patients. The Managing Director claimed, "The ctrlcenter Technical Advisor had an invaluable ability to calm a client down (me!). He was receptive to questions and explained complicated things in a very understandable way – gave me a great education – while solving my problem quickly."
Realtor
A Real Estate agent called ctrlcenter about a "mouse that seems to have a mind of its own." A call to a ctrlcenter Technical Advisor pointed to potential virus and spyware problems. After running "Adware", an anti-spyware tool, the Advisor found 38 pieces of spyware on the PC. The Advisor was able to rid the system of the "bad" software within 15 minutes and after downloading a new driver for the mouse from the manufacturer's web site, the Real Estate agent was up and running within 35 minutes.
"This is the best experience," stated the RE Agent. "Wayne the technician who helped me was so patient and explained what he was doing. He also explained the services of ctrlcenter and I can certainly benefit and will enjoy not worrying about my computer."
